Limited Run Games have announced [1, 2] they will be producing a physical version of Doom 64 on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.
Along with the standard editions, the Classic Edition ($54.99 USD) will include an Nintendo 64 style box (even if you order the PlayStation 4 version), a commemorative (non functioning) metal Nintendo 64 Doom cartridge, a behind the scenes booklet with developer interviews, and a reversible 18″x 24″ poster.
Preorders will begin September 25th via Limited Run Games. Doom 64 is available digitally on Windows PC (via Steam), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia.
The original game launched in 1997, tasking players with blasting demons through 32 levels. Taking place after Doom II: Hell on Earth, UAC research stations have been quarantined with extreme levels of radiation.
However, a satellite discovers one creature had survived in an irradiated station; bringing dead demons back to life. The Doom Marine (later dubbed the Doom Slayer) charges head-long back into carnage, but may be giving the demons exactly what they want. Later ports added The Lost Levels, linking the events of Doom 64 to Doom (2016).
