While a big PlayStation Trophies overhaul was done by Sony a few years ago, it’s been a long time since Microsoft has made any big changes to Xbox Achievements. Perhaps that will change soon, according to a tease from Xbox boss Phil Spencer.
The new tease comes from a new interview with Spencer on a number of topics, however achievement hunters have been dying for long-demanded features like more visibility on Xbox’s “Games Completed” feature, which is their equivalent of PlayStation’s platinum trophies.
“There’s a roadmap of those things coming as well. There’s a hardware roadmap, there’s a service roadmap, maybe there’s even a roadmap for improvements to Xbox Achievements, which I know is something that you and many others care about,” Spencer said to Windows Central.
Other demanded features for Xbox Achievements include things like the ability to see older, Xbox 360-era achievements in high definition on modern Xbox consoles, and even some achievements that won’t show on modern Xbox consoles.
Phil added, “We need to make sure we’re exposing roadmap to our customers to keep them excited. We know that our customers want to know that, as Xbox continues to grow, that we still have a commitment to them. We want our Xbox core customers that have been with us all along to feel respected.”
Personally, I think competition is always good and Sony clearly improved upon what Microsoft built with Xbox Achievements – if they add their equivalent of Platinum Trophies and some other fan-demanded features, it will be a win for all gamers.
