Phil Spencer Promises JRPGs For Xbox One

As someone who bought the Xbox 360 when it came out, I enjoyed the short burst of JRPGs the system had soon after its launch. Tales of Vesperia, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon and Enchanted Arms were all favorites of mine at the time and were the governing decision in me buying an 360. Sadly, that short burst was all we ever really received, and I had to buy a PS3 to “get my fix”, so to speak. My Xbox eventually gathered dust while my PS3 enjoyed a constant deluge of JRPGs, courtesy of Atlus and NISA.

Microsoft may realize how much they need the genre, however, since Xbox head Phil Spencer recently tweeted that we will indeed see some on their new console.

It’s been known that Microsoft has been reaching out to Japanese developers in an effort to win over the eastern market, but nothing much has been said about it in terms of what games we’ll be getting out of it. It’s likely that, much like what Microsoft did with Tales of Vesperia, they will fund the development and production of a company’s JRPG just to get them to put it out exclusively for the Xbox.

Even if that’s the case, I hope it’s true. What do you think??
