Phil Fish Says His Company Polytron and the FEZ IP Are For Sale

So if you’re an avid Niche Gamer reader, or if you’re somewhat in-the-know as far as the gaming industry goes, you’ve probably heard of Phil Fish. Professionally, he’s the creative mind behind the hit indie game FEZ. Unprofessionally, he’s a huge baby on Twitter.

Well, he and his company Polytron were allegedly doxxed by 4chan’s /v/ board, and much of his personal information—including passwords for many of his accounts—were made public. He took to his Twitter, posting some very final and negative messages.

Additionally, he posted a harangue about the current state of the game industry. His twitter is now private, but it went as follows:

“this is videogames.

this is what i get

this is unacceptable

this is not okay

terrorist

never again, you hear me? never again.

this is videogames

this is your audience

to every aspiring game developer out there: don’t. give up. it’s not worth it.

nothing is worth this.

give up on your dreams. they are actually nightmares.

just don’t do it.

RUN AWAY”

Now, that’s awfully encouraging, isn’t it? I won’t say that Phil deserved to be doxxed like that, I don’t think anyone does. Being that connected, and having your livelihood live and die by the power of the internet has its disadvantages. I think the real lesson here is to not be a douche on Twitter after you develop a game.

Perhaps if someone does indeed buy Polytron and the FEZ license, FEZ 2 will potentially see the light of day. This is because we all know Phil isn’t going to make it.
