Rocket Panda Games has announced new DLC for Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Ultimate adding Japanese performer Kaho Shibuya.

The new remastered version of their sidescrolling beat ’em up game will add Kaho Shibuya as a new playable character, though a release date wasn’t announced.

“My favorite game genre has always been 2D side-scrolling Beat ’em Ups, so to be in such a game as a menacingly strong DLC character is a dream come true,” Kaho Shibuya said in a press release. “This playable Kaho is an amalgamation of a magical girl and a baker, prismatic and sweet. Regarding the former, of course it’s every girl’s fantasy, especially when you grew up watching anime like Sailor Moon, Card Captor Sakura, and Madoka Magica. For the latter, I wanted a unique weapon to stand out, and thought of a baguette as a weapon first, which was inspired from some of my favorite games. This character is from all my nerdy thoughts, and I hope you enjoy beating up enemies with it.”

To celebrate the new announcement, Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Ultimate will be on sale for the first time across all digital storefronts.

Here’s a rundown on the new DLC character, plus a trailer:

A daughter of a humble baker by day and a magical girl by destiny, Kaho’s bread-fueled justice comes to life with a freshly-baked moveset that’s as charming as it is chaotic. Whether flinging baguette blasts or unleashing croissant combos, she’s ready to roll… and rise.

Set against the vibrant backdrop of Los Angeles, California the DLC package includes:

• One new playable character Kaho Shibuya, a magical girl with the powers of cuteness and bread, available to use on Co-op and Battlegrounds Mode.
• Four new enemy mob characters to battle through on the new stage.
• A brand-new stage set in a fictional “LA”, dressed up for Anime Expo season available on Co-op Mode.
• In-stage Collaboration Camoes with LA local food truck, Okamoto Kitchen and 3D latte art shop from Japan, Latte Pocket.

To commemorate the launch, Japanese girl band, Phantom Breakers will release an original track titled “WISH” feat. Kaho Shibuya, featuring vocals by Kaho herself. The single will be released in conjunction with the DLC release on all major streaming platforms.

Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Ultimate has been available for Windows PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, PS4, and PS5. Get our review!
