5pb. have announced that Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds will launch on Playstation Vita in both North America and Europe via the PlayStation Network on July 29th. For our South Korean readers, the game will also be launching in that region on August 1st.
Phantom Breaker producer Masaki Sakari made a note of saying that launching the game worldwide, in house, has been a somewhat stressful and unpleasant experience. Due to Sony’s massive worldwide audience, each branch of Sony (SCEA, SCEE, SCEJ, etc) has different regulations when it comes to their pre-release certifications.
Something may be totally fine for SCE America, while that same instance would not fly in SCE Europe. Sakari specifically mentions that SCE was generally not willing to bend the rules for the company, and that SCE Europe especially was strict with their policies.
He did mention that the experience overall has been a learning one, and he hopes that it will be useful information moving forward for the company. The international release means the Japanese original will be updated as well, and he is still pleading with SCE Japan to resolve a trophy sync issue that has been plaguing the title.
Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds originally launched for the Playstation Vita in Japan on March 13th.
