2K Games and developer Firaxis Games have announced the next leader in Civilization VI.

Peter the Great will lead the Russians in the latest of their turn-based, civilization-building strategy franchise. Named the “Emperor of All Russia”, Peter the Great furthered both youth and secular education, and even reformed their calendar to match the European standard.

Here’s a breakdown of the unique tactics Russian can employ:

Unique District: Lavra

The Lavra is a Russian monastery in the Russian Orthodox Church, the most famous of which is the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius: the spiritual center of the Russian Orthodox Church. The distinction of Lavra was saved only for the highest level monasteries, signifying their importance in Russian Orthodox Church and state affairs.

Unique Unit: Cossack

Cossack infantry were multi-talented units that served as guards, guides, soldiers, and explorers when needed. Russian Cossacks were integral during Napoleon’s Invasion of Russia, garnering high praise from the adversarial Napoleon himself. These light infantry were mounted and armed with sabers and long spears, and would often utilize an early form of guerilla warfare to disrupt supply chains and communications.
