Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers Morgana’s Travel Report #2

Atlus have released the second “Morgana’s report” for Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers.

Firstly, we get some information on the plot. After the Shibuya incident, a public safety police officer Zenkichi Hasegawa informs the Phantom Thieves that they are suspected of being behind it. To clear their names, the gang heads to the other world of “Jail” to solve the mystery. However, Jail is not just bleeding out into the real world through Shibuya, but across all of Japan!

The Phantom Thieves start their “road-trip” across Japan, arriving at Sendai- the city that Date Masamune used to have total control over. Sendai is famous for Tanabata Festivals, and food such as beef tongue and zunda (sweetened mashed green soybeans). In recent months however, the talk of the town is light novel author Ango Natsume (voice: Daisuke Kishio). In fact, his fans go wild! Suspiciously wild…

Strange characters do not end there, as the gang come across Kuon Ichinose (voice: Youko Hikasa). Her impassioned speech about how great beef tongue is just serves to perplex the Phantom Thieves.

When they get to the Sendai Jail, medieval style buildings surrounded them. The Phantom Thieves will need to keep their guard up, as Shadows calling themselves the Four Devas act as this world’s guards.

Moving onto gameplay, the video moved onto discussing developing and strengthening each character. Alongside leveling up, characters can be grown in other ways. First up is “BAND”, representing the Phantom Thieves’ bonds with each other- allowing you to increase a character’s HP, strength, and learn new abilities. Individual characters also learn Master Arts, character-specific abilities unlocked the more you play as a particular character.

Finally, the game will offer in-game shops with equipment and gear. Other than shops in Jail (run by Sofia), there is a brief hint that shops in the real world may have “local bargains”.

Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers is launching February 20th, 2020 in Japan for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.
