Persona 5 Countdown Site Launched, Reveal Coming May 5

persona 5 04-20-16-1

Atlus has updated the official Japanese website for Persona 5 with a curious new countdown timer.

The 316 hour long countdown (when it was launched) will expire on May 5th.

While Persona 5 is set for a Japanese release sometime this summer, the western release is expected this year (we hope).

Have they said anything on whether dungeons will use up a day like midnight channel or tartarus?

I wish they just let you visit the dungeons whenever you feel like without time passing. For P3 and P4 I just did all my grinding in one day each month for those precious social links and stats but it would be nicer to space out the battlin and grindan.

With the delays it’s had, I hope the localisations don’t take long. I remember Atlus saying they were working on it last year.

If they announced simultaneous international release I’d lose my mind (not that its likely but hey!)

Persona series is always known for it’s (relatively) large script – not VN huge but still quite a lot.

Delays are usually a sign production messed up, but I remain optimistic that Atlus is just working out the kinks on this game.

Maybe I’m alone in this, but the subtle changes to fundamental gameplay and departure from formula have me a little worried about this one.

Hopefully not otherwise, if the rumours are true, they’ll have to further delay the game.

I hated SMT4’s changes to the combat from worked since MT and was built upon more and more just dropped to make less viable builds and smirking.

Calling it now, the countdown is for Persona 4 Cart Racing and it’s accompanying anime, movie, and Persona brand kitchen mixer.

Yeah I know, but I’d rather just be able to, y’know, support a franchise I love in my own country. If Taro Yoko can get a worldwide release for Drakengard 3 – a game literally made with the money found down the back of the couches at Square HQ – then Atlus really have no excuse. Hopefully Sega gets them to actually pull their finger out.

Sure but given Atlus’ history and it it’s like 4 months after the american release and there’s still no word on a european release i’d definitely just import at that point.

Don’t jinx it, that may be the only way this game can get undubbed should Atlus USA fuck up on dual audio for the umpteenth time!

I know there’s been a rumor floating around for quite a while now that NA and JP would be having simultaneous releases. But I haven’t seen any evidence of that. Atlus really needs to just do subtitles instead of forcing dubs into the game. Though I did really like P3 and P4’s english VAs and I’m playing through the original Persona so I’m currently forming an opinion on how I feel about the VAs.

I’d really like them to release the NA version along with the JP version. While I could just import it, I’m still learning kanji and with it being such a text heavy game I don’t think I’d enjoy it as much. Here’s hoping to a relatively soon release date for the west.

Both Persona 3 and 4 had extremely high quality localizations and voice acting. Who the fuck is demanding they stop?

  35. thatguyEZ
    April 24, 2016 at 2:58 pm

Sure they were, but the niche the games target for the most part would be fine with subs instead of full dubs. I quite enjoy the voice work for the games but they’d certainly get locally zed a lot quicker without the English tracks.

No, Persona games have a far wider audience than the subs only lunatics.
