Persona 4 Golden Leaked on Steam, Announcement Likely to Come Soon

Persona 4 Golden

UPDATE: Nibellion (a Twitter user dedicated to video game news) has discovered this support page for the game, confirming the port will have Denuvo DRM. It is similar to other games that use Denuvo DRM on Windows PC, further enforcing its legitimacy.

For those unfamiliar, Denuvo DRM has been criticized for allegations of its effectiveness. These include the need for a constant and uninterrupted online connection even on single-player games, and allegations of causing severe performance inhibition.

There have even been claims and rumors of the anti-piracy measure being “cracked” (allowing the once-protected software to be copied and distributed) mere days after or even before a game’s release.

Denuvo’s anti-cheat software was met with similar disdain, after being added to Doom Eternal. Just one week after it was announced, it was removed after a deluge of negative reviews and claims the software caused performance issues (though id Software denies this was due to Denuvo anti-cheat).

Original Story:

The presence of Persona 4 Golden on Steam’s servers has been leaked, confirming the game is coming to Windows PC (thanks Wario64!)

The news comes via Steam DB (a website dedicated to tracking the changes on Steam’s database), noting a new listing for Persona 4 Golden. It reveals this image of the game’s title is in the Steam database (as indicated by the url).

Steam Database developer Pavel Djundik explained on Twitter that while such proof had been faked before, he claimed had additional sources to prove it.

“Fair warning, while these images do exist on the CDN, there’s no denying that, but that is not the definitive proof as that can still be faked (remember battlefront 3?)

With this one, I had various proofs shared from independent sources, so it does appear to be the real deal.”

Combined with Atlus West stating there would be “exciting news to share at the PC Gaming Show, this Saturday, June 13th” it would seem all but certain that is genuine.

Persona 4 originally launched in 2008 on the PlayStation 2, and ported to the PlayStation Vita with additional features as Persona 4 Golden in 2012.

We will keep you informed as we learn more.
