Permadeath Roguelike Necropolis Out On Consoles Today

While it’s been some time since we last heard from Necropolis after its Steam debut and console release delay, Harebrained Schemes has released the game on consoles today.

After the Brutal Edition update which added a fairly large amount of new content, the developers decided that the game was now ready for consoles; and here we are, with the game being available today. Note that the game is also digital only, and will run at $29.99 USD.

You can check out the Brutal Edition update’s Steam trailer, showcasing some of the new stuff that was added with the update.

Necropolis is available now on Steam, PS4, and Xbox One.

The price is a bit steep for a digital only game.

I’ve heard Necropolis isn’t good anyway.

I love how most indie developers have completely stopped texturing their games and just use phong shading, while asking $29 for their game. Lazy doesn’t even begin to describe it.

Sometimes a minimalist art style can work, but yeah I largely agree.

games alright…. completed it on my first run on release day… honestly it needs 2 more classes and drop in drop out with pugs to make it worth its asking price.

Thirty bucks for… that? I could buy two good porn games for that price.

What is it with modern developers not being able to make good dungeon-crawling action-RPGs? I can’t remember the last time I played a good one.

It seems so simple, too. I just don’t get it.

It got free update recently with a new Class, Biome, Enemies, Traps, Weapons and all that.

That being said its still only a good game when played with other people and even then, $30 is still steep for what you get.

I think it works here. But yeah I hate it in general.

As someone who was only barely willing to spend 15 bucks on but the best and most content-rich digital titles last gen, just the mere idea of spending 30 bucks on one seems frankly bizarre…

Makes me wish for a Steamspy equivalent on consoles; I’d love to know how much digital-only games sell on there at these sorts of prices nowadays.

The Legend of Grimrock games are great for that, unless you care more about the action part of action RPG. But ya, they’re few and far between.

“Permadeath Roguelike.” I may be an old fogey, but I remember when that would have been considered a run on sentence.

    > buying porn games
Unless it’s to support a developer you like, buying porn is just silly.

It’s called aesthetics. Either you get it right like with Journey, or you get it wrong like with Limbo.

I think artists should be payed for their work. It’s not like smut is easier to draw than other stuff.
