We’ve learned the Perfect Dark reboot director has left the studio, a departure noticed on their professional listing.
News that the Perfect Dark reboot director has left the studio come via Dan Neuburger’s LinkedIn page, where his profile shows he left one of the game’s co-developers, The Initiative, last month.
The Initiative was formed by Microsoft back in 2018 as an in-house, first-party development studio. Their Perfect Dark reboot will be their first game, and there’s no release date in sight for the new release.
Previously, we learned Crystal Dynamics will collaborate on the Perfect Dark reboot with previously confirmed studio The Initiative. It’s worth noting Neuburger appears to have been at the studio since it began, or somewhere near that time period.
While it is concerning top staff leave a project before it’s even finished, since The Initiative is being co-developed with Crystal Dynamics, it’s likely they’re handling the bulk of bigger scale development as The Initiative has been a smaller studio since its founding.
We still don’t know much about how far along the Perfect Dark reboot is, but as it was announced back in December 2020 – it has likely been in development for at least two or three years,
