PAYDAY 3 video has gamers playing in an actual prison

PAYDAY 3

A new promotional video from PAYDAY 3 showed a handful of gamers playing the game in an actual prison.

The promo is mostly a publicity stunt as the prison was just used as an actual backdrop. None of the players involved were actual inmates.

Instead, PAYDAY 3 developer Starbreeze challenged this “inmates” to perform a heist inside the prison. The prize would be full access to the game. It’s worth mentioning the obvious that this was filmed earlier, since the game is available now for certain pre-orders.

Players who pre-ordered the Gold or Silver editions are able to play now. Xbox Game Pass players can purchase an upgrade for these versions that will also enable access.

You can check out the video below.

We asked which heister would be up for doing time to get time. As in literally doing prison time to be the first one to play PAYDAY 3. We had one lucky winner along with selected partners travel to Sweden to take on the challenge where they had to complete a heist, to get access to the full game. Were they able to do it? Find out in Do Time To Get Time.

PAYDAY 3 is the latest game in the franchise, and the long awaited sequel to the 2013 title PAYDAY 2.

The developers also unboxed the Collector’s Edition today, showing off all the goodies that buyers can expect inside, including:

  • Collector’s Mask w/ stand
  • A deck of themed playing cards
  • Digital content from other tiers
  • and more

PAYDAY 3 is set to release September 21 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Microsoft Windows (via Steam and Epic Games Store).
