Publisher Starbreeze Studios and developer Overkill Software announced Payday 3 nearly a year ago, and there hasn’t really been much of anything regarding the latest in their robbery-shooter franchise – until now. The developer confirmed the game is still coming, alongside other new details.
The game is still in development, although it still has no release date outside the previously confirmed 2022 or 2023 release window.
The developer also confirmed the game is using Unreal Engine, and that it’s apparently still in the design phase. That’s all we have to go on, for now.
Payday 3 and its developer Overkill have mostly been overshadowed by the issues at publisher Starbreeze, most notably with the cancellation of Starbreeze’s other shooter, The Walking Dead.
Even if Payday 3 hits their targeted 2022-2023 release window, it will be roughly a decade after the previous game was released.
Payday 2 is available on Windows PC (via Steam), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
