Painterly Platformer GRIS Heads to PS4 on November 26

Publisher Devolver Digital and developer Nomada Studio have announced GRIS is heading to PS4.

The watercolor platforming game is heading to the Sony console via the PlayStation Store on November 26th. Featured above, you can view a new trailer for the PS4 port.

A physical version of the game will be offered via Limited Run Games, for $29.99. Pre-orders will be open for five weeks, and are available now.

The game has reportedly (via the PS Blog) been updated for PS4 in “meticulous detail,” as the art team revamped “over 5,000 unique assets to two-to-four times higher resolution to take advantage of the PlayStation 4 Pro and 4K displays.” Various quality of life improvements and a PlayStation-exclusive homage to “one of our favorite games and an inspiration for GRIS” were added. The music was even updated with less compression.

Here’s a brief rundown on the game:

Gris is a hopeful young girl lost in her own world, dealing with a painful experience in her life. Her journey through sorrow is manifested in her dress, which grants new abilities to better navigate her faded reality. As the story unfolds, Gris will grow emotionally and see her world in a different way, revealing new paths to explore using her new abilities.

GRIS is a serene and evocative experience, free of danger, frustration or death. Players will explore a meticulously designed world brought to life with delicate art, detailed animation, and an elegant original score. Through the game light puzzles, platforming sequences, and optional skill-based challenges will reveal themselves as more of Gris’s world becomes accessible.

GRIS has been available for Windows PC (via Steam), Switch, and iOS.
