Oxenfree developer Night School Studio has announced their next game – Afterparty.
The new adventure game stars protagonists Milo and Lola, recently dead BFFLs that also end up in an eternity of punishment in hell. The only way for them to save their eternal souls and a second chance at life is to outdrink the desolate one himself, upon which he’ll grant you another life in the realm of the living.
The main problem Milo and Lola have is that neither of them have any recollection of what kind of sins they perpetrated to end up in hell amongst other sinners. You can’t rush to Satan’s exclusive afterparty, however, as you need to adventure through the fiery pits of hell itself on a pub crawl full of debauchery and hopefully lots of sodomy.
The game will be broken up into individual neighborhoods that are all inspired by real-world religions and denominations from across the globe. As this is a more throwback adventure game-like experience, you’ll have to point and click on the bars in the various neighborhoods to enter them and peruse their inhabitants, as well as their liquid poison.
Once inside a bar, you’ll be able to do the sorts of things pub-goers are accustomed to: depressing karaoke, beer pong, and idle chit chat – only now you’ll be mingling with deviants and murderers, and demons too. Each bar is supposed to have its own environment complete with its own beer, characters, and more.
While development platforms for Afterparty weren’t announced, a release window is set for sometime in 2019.
