Shooting fish in a barrel is far less easy when the fish is likewise equipped with a firearm of its own, leaping from platform to platform, and flashing you with a barrage of lights and pyrotechnics. Didn’t see that coming, did you?
Fish is a shooting game in which you play, well, as a fish. Every moment is frantic, and this title leans into the madness in every way imaginable.
Spoiler alert, but do you remember the final boss of Untertale (no, not genocide-run Sans)? When Flowey mutates and becomes a horrific conglomeration of shapes and images hell-bent on your destruction, the atmosphere of the game immediately shifts to high-octane, adrenaline-pumping survival.
That same feeling and overall aesthetic is present in virtually every frame of Fish, from the hyper-realistic images of bullet casings and fish (of course), to the plants with human teeth, and a clash with an early version of classic Minesweeper.
Fish is pure insanity, and it just announced an early access version to release on June 22 on PC (via Steam). Can’t wait? You can play the demo in the meantime — hopefully that can satiate your drive for fish-fueled frenzy.
