Mossmouth Games have announced the release date for Spelunky 2 during PlayStation’s State of Play livestream, along with a new gameplay trailer.

The new trailer confirms new features coming to the game. This includes online multiplayer (in what appears to be co-operative modes, and 4 player competitive arena battles), and when unlocking characters inhabiting a hub world.

Players will also be able to explore and interact in new ways. This includes riding turkeys back to a NPC in exchange for treasure, finding hidden paths, split pathways, new items, and new characters that can help or hinder the player.

The shop also offers more ways to be nuanced and exciting. This includes gambling via throwing dice to unlock a price.
