Oniken is another one of those games that is trying to recapture the difficulty and feel of retro games. Described as “NES hard, but also NES awesome”, and it definitely evokes that type of style and feel. I can already feel the fits of rage that I’ll experience trying to beat the game.
The game has been available for some time now via the game’s official website, but it has since been Greenlit on Steam, and has also been made available via Desura.

The story of Oniken is set in a post-apocalyptic dystopia where the remnants of humanity are being terrorized via an evil organization called simply Oniken. A small rebel uprising lead by a ninja mercenary named Zaku are humanity’s last hope at overthrowing their oppressive overlords in their quest to dominate the world.
Oniken is set to release on February 5th on Steam, while it’s already available via Desura.
