ONI Zero X (Cross) announced

ONI Zero X (Cross)

Japanese developer Mebius has announced ONI Zero X (Cross), a completely new entry in their ONI Zero role-playing game series.

Announced at Tokyo Game Show, ONI Zero X (Cross) is the first new entry in the series in 26 years, after the PS1 entry Oni Zero: Fukkatsu developed by Pandora Box and released in 2001. A release is set for 2027 in Japan, though release platforms weren’t announced.

The new game is being led by Takiya Iijima, a director that worked on the original games, who notes this is an entirely new game not directly connected to previous games.

The new game will not be connected to the last-planned (but canceled) entry, ONI Zero: Ruten (ONI零〜流転〜), but its protagonist, Fujimaru, comes from their 1995 alt-history strategy RPG Sengoku Cyber: Fujimaru Jigokuhen.

Fujimaru will be joined by other ninjas from Sengoku Cyber and the setting appears to be the same alt-history Warring States (Sengoku) period of Japan, where ninjas, samurai, and modern technology collide in a war against demons.

Lastly, Iijima quietly teased at the end of his Tokyo Game Show panel that a new game, “Psycho Fujoshi” (Psycho Women) is in development, though further details weren’t announced.
