Square Enix has confirmed that Alena, Kiryl, and Maya from Dragon Quest IV, as well as Terry from Dragon Quest VI, are playable in Dragon Quest: Heroes.
When Square Enix producer Ryota Aomi polled Niconico viewers for which Dragon Quest V character they wanted to be playable, an overwhelming nigh-50% percent came through for Bianca. In response, Koei Tecmo producer Kenichi Ogasawara teased by saying that his team will “seriously think about” making her playable.
The developers from both Square Enix and Koei Tecmo praised the PlayStation 4 version of Dragon Quest: Heroes, claiming that it runs at a liquid smooth 60 frames per second. They said that visuals in the game are pretty enough to even see the detail in a monster’s fur.
The core story of Dragon Quest: Heroes involves Akuto and Meer, the two protagonists. You can play as either character, and pending your preference, the story will change a bit as you play. You can naturally flip-flop between characters mid-battle, but the environments and such that you’d expect from the series are still being developed.
Dragon Quest: Heroes is coming to both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 in Japan sometime next spring.
