Games Workshop has announced the first official animated series based on the Warhammer 40,000 franchise.
The new series is titled simply “Angels of Death,” and is being produced by the team behind the popular fan-series Helsreach. Featured above, you can view the first teaser-trailer for the series.
“We’re bringing the grim darkness of the far future to life like never before,” Games Workshop said in the announcement. “Get ready for epic battle, heroic sacrifice, loads of explosions, brutal close-combat chainsword duels, and some pathos-laden dialogue that’ll fill your belly with fire and stretch your heart strings to breaking.”
Angels of Death follows a group of Blood Angel Space Marines, with a script penned by one of several authors who add to Games Workshop’s Black Library series of fiction novels. Richard Boylan, a cinematic designer at Electronic Arts (also worked on the live-action short film Guardsman), is on the project as well.
The series is set for a premiere sometime next year, via the Warhammer TV channel over on YouTube.
