Official Story Trailer for Valkyria Chronicles Remastered

Sega has shared the official English story trailer for Valkyria Chronicles Remastered.

Featured above, the story trailer gives an overview of the battle between the neutral Principality of Gallia and the encroaching Autocratic East Europan Imperial Alliance (also known as the Empire).

Sega even provided a tongue-in-cheek press release for the trailer, as it was sent to us yesterday, on April Fool’s Day:

By [REDACTED] 1935 E.C.

By order of the crown prince Maximilian, the Autocratic East Europan Imperial Alliance — also known as the Empire — has invaded the Principality of Gallia for its rich ragnite deposits. As a result, our once neutral Gallia is now directly involved in the Second Europan War, and is in a state of total war with The Empire.

The fight will not be easy, as the Empire’s forces are superior in number and quality. Furthermore, they posses many fearsome generals such as the skilled Major Generals Berthold Gregor and Radi Jaeger, and the powerful Valkyrur Brigadier General Selvaria Bles. They have already attacked many cities and towns, and are inching toward our capital city of Randgriz.

Though the situation seems bleak, we can win this war. The Empire has an army filled with soldiers who follow orders, but we have the strength and will of the Gallian Army and Militia who are fighting for their glorious homeland. Just look at the vaunted Squad 7! With the tactical brilliance of 2nd Lieutenant Welkin Gunther, reliability of Sergeant Alicia Melchiott, and dedication from the platoon’s other members, we won’t lose this war!

Valkyria Chronicles Remastered is launching exclusively for PlayStation 4 in North America and in Europe on May 17th.

Remastered is so useless. You can just get the PC version and mod it.

To be fair, as optimized as the PC version is, some might not have the tech to play it. Also, this remaster is probably another way for Sega to see if the West would still be interested in more iterations of the franchise brought here.

Mods really do fix everything though.

Plan to buy this game just to support the developers. It is with head and shoulders my favorite PS3 game and I hope we will see more Valkyria games. I do like the idea of Azure Revolution, but it’s not the same genre really.

I thought VC2 got a PSP Western release. Would still be nice to see a console/PC release of it though if that’s what you mean.

I don’t know what they were thinking with Azure. Gameplay wise it has little to do with what is expected from a Valkyria Chronicles games.

I don’t particularly like the edginess of the premise either. Yeah, it’s war but I think they’re pushing it to Coldsteel Hedgehog territory.

And style wise, it seems to be ditching all last vestiges of real war VC had.

VC2 and 3 scream GENERIC ANIME so much that theyI’m not interested in them at all, not even for the gameplay.

I have reservations on this, but I will go forward and pick it up. But I’d really like to hear about some demo-related news for Azure Revolution.

My PC is pretty much a potato, its 5+ years old and is using an on-board graphics card and my PC handled it just fine(I also only bought the PC on sale at eBay for $500 back when I didn’t know I could potentially get a far more powerful PC for just as much).
