We’ve learned that Sony Computer Entertainment is officially working on a PlayStation 4 Remote Play application for PC and Mac.
The news comes via SCE Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida, who confirmed it on Twitter.
“Some people asked if we plan to provide Remote Play function to PC, and yes, we are indeed working on an official application for PC/Mac,” Yoshida said in a tweet.
It’s worth mentioning this is clearly in response to an unofficial PlayStation 4 Remote Play app, which the hacking/homebrew community released this week.

November 27, 2015 at 11:58 amThat is a very strange feature to work on. I’d rather they focused on implementing folders.

November 27, 2015 at 12:12 pmNow they just need to add Linux and I will be happy.

November 27, 2015 at 12:14 pmI guess they want to make some money from PC gamers before PSnow is available on PCs.

November 27, 2015 at 12:41 pmYou’d be able to play your games on a PC with this?

November 27, 2015 at 1:18 pm…but all the PS4 games I want to play are already on PC or will be there shortly?
Honestly, even as a PC gamer I can see no value in this. I’d rather just change the channel on my TV to HDMI 2 and play on the PS4 directly. (As rare as that is.) ╮(─▽─)╭ I guess not everybody has their PC and console hooked up the same TV though…

November 27, 2015 at 3:04 pmJust testing the waters. I’m somewhat iffy about Gematsu because their comment section is usually littered with an absolute shit-fest whenever a PC related article pops up. The moderators don’t help as I’ve seen them mod PC commenters and not Sonyponies running around calling people “PCfags.”
It’s gross. So this was like a test for me to see which community handles what better. That’s all. Gotta figure out the borders early else you end up banned. (At least on Gematsu from what I’ve seen,) >_>

November 27, 2015 at 3:24 pmThe whole “Disgaea coming to PC in February” article on Gematsu comes to mind. Watching the whole thing unfold was pretty toxic. Beyond that I’ve been watching Gematsu slowly turn into a shithole for a while now (community wise.) Just read the comments in ANY PC article they do.
“Dragon Quest Heroes coming to PC via Steam” was another interesting article to read the comments on. Toxic to the point where 2 people were banned and whole conversations were deleted.
It’s just interesting to see how two different communities, given the same news, react completely different. I don’t see a lot of hate for PC on NG, but I often see tons of it on Gematsu. ヽ(゚Д゚)ノ

November 27, 2015 at 3:27 pmNo, you still have the play the games on your PS4. The video is just streamed to and the game controlled from your PC.
Have you ever done remote-play with Vita?

November 27, 2015 at 3:28 pmWell to be fair I do see quite the opposite on this site where there’s pc gamers hating on console gamers.
I do know what your talking about Gematsu though but I think it’s because some pc gamers like to be douches there and act like those obnoxious elitist people and this happened there for a long many times that’s why Gematsu community had enough of it and it keeps happening.

November 27, 2015 at 4:05 pm“Use more powerful hardware to stream a console game.”
WHY?!!
If they still want PS sales, just release some kind of adapter or even DRM (which I disapprove of) that lets people play PS games on PC without emulator/piracy.

November 27, 2015 at 5:29 pmNo.The last console I owned was a PS2.
I don’t see any benefits to this system since the PC tends to be more powerful.Unless you get to play with KB+Mouse but in that case the game is probably is multiplatform to begin with.
Unless I am misunderstanding things.

November 27, 2015 at 7:41 pmSpeaking about the Gematsu community, I tend to see people giving the Xbox One flak when a Xbox One article goes up. I always did enjoy people coming out the woodwork and being a negative nancy towards the Xbox brand, the pessimism is strong in that place.

November 27, 2015 at 8:31 pmI could only see this as mildly interesting if we can use the PC to apply some AA or something on it, like how you can do it with a 360 with external hardware:

November 27, 2015 at 8:56 pmI’m not sure if PSnow is coming to pc the most likely reason that they came out with this is because the person developing the unofficial app decided to charge people 10USD for each purchase of his remote play app. He then decided to create a false demand by limiting downloads to 5 per license key after adding DRM and 25 purchases a day and sold out every day this way. After that sony announced this free app.

November 27, 2015 at 9:56 pmIts should be, they announced support along wide mobile and TVs. Its basically a game version on Netflix, if it can stream content and connect to a blue-tooth controller it should work with PS Now.
One of the main things about PS Now is its for people who don’t have a Playstation, so remote play wouldn’t do them any good. That’s money left on the table.

November 28, 2015 at 11:57 amLol all DRM’s eventually get cracked no matter what.
