That’s right, Sony has announced that the software 3.30 update for the Vita will go live tonight, and it features themes! Finally!
A whole slew of neat things come along with this update too. Of course, with the addition of themes, users and customize the system application icons, start and home screens, and the system’s background music. If that’s not a sweet addition, I don’t know what is. And all your themes can be managed through the system’s Settings app.
Sony has said that tomorrow comes with some non-game related themes like “Crystal,” “Stitching,” and “Four Seasons.” These can all be purchased and downloaded from the Vita PS Store. Game themes including Tearaway, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, and Freedom Wars are tagged as “Coming Soon”.
Putting themes to the side, this update will also let players see the trophy rarity when looking through PSN Trophies. The Calendar app has been updated so you can share events with friends over the internet through the use of the messages or emails apps. You can add non-friends to calendar events too, just fyi.
Sony definitely is moving the Vita in some direction…though it seems like it’s heavily becoming social based. What do you guys think?
