Microids and developer Oddworld Inhabitants have announced (via press release) that Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee will be heading to Nintendo Switch.
Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee originally launched in 2001 on Xbox, and followed the events of Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus. Gabbit Munch has been captured and experimented on by Vykker scientists. Along with Munch being crippled when he was captured, a strange device is grafted onto his head.
He discovers his race is practically extinct. While Gabbit lungs are transplanted into the heavily smoking Glukkons, Gabbit eggs are used for Gabbiar.
After his escape- along with other test subjects- Munch teams up with Abe (guided by the Almighty Raisin) to save the Mudokons, find the last Gabbit eggs (inside the last can of Gabbiar), and take down the Vykker laboratory.
In this action adventure platformer, Abe uses his psychic abilities to influence friend and foe alike, while Munch can control machines with his device. Abe can platform, Munch can swim, and players can freely switch control between both.
The press release does not mention new features or graphical changes, though judging by the trailer it seems this may be based off one of the later ports on Windows PC or PlayStation 3. We will keep you informed as we learn more.
The game is part of the continuing deal between Microids and Oddworld Inhabitants, bringing a total of three Oddworld games to Nintendo Switch. So far, Much’s Oddysee and Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD make two.
Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty (a full remake of Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee) launched on the Wii U in 2016, and published by Oddworld Inhabitants (and developed by Just Add Water Ltd. and Nephilim Games). It seems likely Abe’s Oddysee (in whatever form) or Abe’s Exodus would be the next title Microids bring to Nintendo Switch.

Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee launches May 14th on Nintendo Switch. Older versions are also available on Windows PC (via GOG, and Steam), Mac, Game Boy Advance, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Xbox, Android, and iOS.
