Oculus VR has announced the date when pre-orders for the consumer version of their Oculus VR headset will go live.
Enthusiasts will be able to pre-order the head-mounted display on January 6th, at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET. If you buy an Oculus Rift, Lucky’s Tale by developer Playful will be included for free – alongside CCP Games’ EVE: Valkyrie, which comes free with every pre-order.
A price was not announced – but Oculus said they’ll be “sharing everything you need to know to order your Rift on Wednesday,” when the “pre-orders go live.”
We’ll keep you guys posted.

January 4, 2016 at 1:16 pmI’m anxious for these new VR hardware to hit retail, but I’m personally going to hold off and see how they each pan out before investing in a system.

January 4, 2016 at 2:16 pmThe way things are going, with neither Sony nor Oculus not wanting to reveal such until absolutely necessary, they wont say until the actual day of release.

January 4, 2016 at 4:26 pmI can’t really get that hyped on what we call VR because it’s not really the full blown VR promised to me by science fiction series like .hack.
It feels like a gimmick that’s more suited for movies than video games.

January 4, 2016 at 6:23 pmGiven that the Playstation VR will, like most Sony peripherals, be grossly proprietary and completely useless for anything that isn’t a niche title for a Sony device, I know where I’d put my money.

January 4, 2016 at 7:04 pmSony’s VR does exactly what Oculus does, so I don’t know what you’re on about.

January 5, 2016 at 6:43 amWell, let’s be honest. The amount of data necessary to create such a thing like .hack (or for me personally, the holodeck) is absolutely ridiculous. Very few people alive today would even be able to afford that kind of processing power. In fact, I’d wager less than 10 individual people in the world are currently able to afford it — even though it doesn’t yet exist.
So if you really, really want to wait on that premise, then please enjoy never enjoying VR because unless you’re like, 10, you’re never gonna see what you want.
