Game publisher Nyu Media has joined forces with Japanese studio STRIKEWORKS to produce a literal visual novel machine, rather a creation suite, dubbed simply TyranoBuilder.
“With this release, we’re hoping not only to boost the popularity of visual novels outside of Japan, but also to create a new generation of game developers,” Nyu Media said in a press release. “TyranoBuilder opens up to game creation and game-based storytelling to people who find tools like GameMaker Studio, Unity, script-based visual novel engines, etc. too difficult to use or too time-consuming to learn.”
The new development suite combines drag and drop interfaces with full Steamworks integration, and the ability to cross-publish or export (exporting requires third party software, which you can read about in their tutorial) games to PC, Mac, HTML5, CSS3, iOS, and Android.
If you’re more of a code monkey, you can also dive right into the built-in scripting that is offered in the creation suite. The creation suite is seemingly only being offered on Steam, for a March 27th release. It will cost you $14.99, although there are no license fees or royalties attached to using it.
For now, you can find more information for TyranoBuilder on the suite’s official website.
