In an extremely unfortunate turn of events, the studio behind the incredibly promising No Man’s Sky, Hello Games, had their entire development studio flooded and mostly, if not entirely destroyed.
The biggest question on their minds was if their insurance covered such a catastrophic event, and after finding out the verdict, they posted their findings on twitter:
BAD NEWS! Had a 'hilarious' call with insurer yesterday. Small print is if you are in a flood risk zone, you are not insured for flooding :(

Sadly, it seems that their insurance policy had small print that excluded them from coverage if their studio was within the limits of a flood risk zone.
On the bright side, now that they don’t have an insurance claim to worry about, they can just re-enter their destroyed studio and start assessing the damages and start rebuilding their studio:
On a brighter note, no insurance means we can just wade in and start setting things straight! Hello Games assemble!

While the current status of No Man’s Sky (and possible other works in progress) is not known, Hello Games clearly have a lot of extra work on their hands as they attempt to salvage anything usable, and move on with their development.
We extend out our sincerest wishes to everyone at Hello Games – stay strong and keep working on fantastic games!
