Remember that weird game that Nippon Ichi Software was teasing with a bunch of random letters? Well, a full reveal has come out thanks to Dengeki Playstation, but the official name of the game is literally htoL #NiQ: Hotaru no Nikki.
The game is going to be a direct download release in Japan for 3,086 yen, with a very limited retail edition that comes with a special box, the original soundtrack, a visual art book, and a pair of tin badges that will set you back at 5,800 yen.
Masayuki Furuya has been confirmed as the game’s director and character designer. In Hotaru no Nikki, you’ll control a firefly, which is guiding a girl named Mion. You’ll also have access to the shadow firefly, which moves within the shadows. In the words of the director, you’ll probably end up feeling sorry for Mion, as the gameplay is described as a “die and remember” type of experience, meaning you’ll be learning from your mistakes.
