Nintendo Fires Controversial Employee Over Moonlighting a Second Job

Amidst a series of botched, controversial, and or censored game releases, Nintendo of America has made the decision to terminate a very controversial employee of theirs, Alison Rapp.

While many speculated her termination was from various internet campaigns to get her fired over her strange, controversial, and or pedophilia apologist opinions, it was actually over something a lot less interesting – breaking her contract.

In this case, Rapp was found moonlighting in a second job, which most professionals know can quickly get you in trouble on the grounds of it being a conflict of interest, especially if you’re doing it on company time.

Here’s Nintendo’s official response, via IGN:

“Alison Rapp was terminated due to violation of an internal company policy involving holding a second job in conflict with Nintendo’s corporate culture. Though Ms. Rapp’s termination follows her being the subject of criticism from certain groups via social media several weeks ago, the two are absolutely not related. Nintendo is a company committed to fostering inclusion and diversity in both our company and the broader video game industry and we firmly reject the harassment of individuals based on gender, race or personal beliefs. We wish Ms. Rapp well in her future endeavors.”

It remains to be seen what Ms. Rapp was actually doing on the side, and the manner in which she was conducting said job.

Following the public knowledge of her departure with the company, she posted a curious message:

“Fact is, feminist politics, sex, etc. ARE dangerous to companies bc that’s where we’ve let the industry go. It doesn’t have to be that way.”

We’re not sure what this means, but it goes against what most people are railing on, and whether this is related to her termination or something else entirely.
