Nintendo has released the Nintendo Badge Arcade in both North America and Europe.
Players can now head to the eShop via their Nintendo 3DS and download the free distribution center, which lets you buy and earn chances to obtain badges which can be used to decorate your home screens.
The Nintendo Badge Arcade is lined with crane machines, the kind you’d see in an arcade somewhere. Each crane has badges that are based on various Nintendo IPs, and they currently include Super Mario, Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, and even pixelated classic Nintendo system badges.
Nintendo is celebrating the western launch of the new app by giving each user five free plays in the debut Super Mario crane, so you can learn the basics. It’s worth mentioning that you can play the free crane once a day to earn more free plays. You’ll get a play for every 10 badges you obtain, and you can also randomly get a badge that gives between one and three free plays.
Finally, there’s an exclusive, promotional theme center – if you buy a specific number of plays before a certain date (currently not confirmed), you’ll get a special home theme. The current theme up for grabs is based on The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, if you spend $2 on the cranes.
