Nintendo acquired land next to their Kyoto headquarters, the company announced this past week.

While Nintendo acquired land next to their Kyoto headquarters, the plot of land was previously owned by the city of Kyoto and clocks in at 10,028.55 square meters (about 2.5 acres) in size, A purchase price was noted at 5 billion yen ($40,220,000).


In terms of utilization of the newly acquired property, Nintendo stated, “Along with the R&D investments and capital investments, Nintendo believes acquiring and utilizing this land will carry an important role on reinforcing its R&D.”

  • Facility name: Corporate Headquarters Development Center, Building No. 2 (tentative name)
  • Objective of the facility: R&D reinforcement
  • Floor area: Approximately 38,000㎡
  • Structure and height: 12 floor steel framed building, approximately 72m of height
  • Planned completion date: December 2027
