Ninja Theory revealed the latest developer diary for Hellblade, their upcoming PC and Playstation 4 action game.
Featured above, the new video goes in-depth with how the independent studio assembled their own makeshift mo-cap studio. Since they only have 13 staff (while regular studios tend to have at least 30-40 artists piecing mo-cap cutscenes together) and are on a budget, they literally put together their in-house mo-cap studio from an amalgamation of parts.
The entire process seems very involved, but it certainly appears to be working, and producing results similar to what they achieved working with a bigger budget, like when they worked on Heavenly Sword. You even get to see a familiar face in there helping them test out their mo-cap equipment – Andy Serkis! However, this appears to be from when he played King Bohan (in Heavenly Sword).
Hellblade is currently in development for PC and PlayStation 4.
