If you haven’t heard of Aquaria, it’s ok, the game is awesome and you should definitely check it out anyway. The creator of Aquaria, Alec Holowka, is making a new game called Night in the Woods – unsurprisingly, it looks really freaking cool.
Night in the Woods is a 2D adventure/exploration type game, focusing on story and character development instead of violence or action. The game rewards you for exploring and looking into things, but instead of it being an empty, solitary world, it throws you into a town full of people. Actually, there are no people in the game, but rather talking animals that do people stuff.
You can check out their kickstarter teaser below:
The cast in the game is definitely very diverse, each character is well thought out and has his or her own traits, weaknesses, habits, and so on. You can choose to explore and progress through the world in any way you choose – you could even just play bass guitar and dick around with your friends, if you choose to.
Night in the Woods is set for release sometime in 2015, as their campaign was fully funded in around 24 hours, and is steadily gaining more traction as they obliterate all of their stretch goals. If this kickstarter got you wanting to pledge to their campaign, you can do so here.
