All additional elements will be completely new, and it is where the developers are focusing their efforts. While the more janky and unrefined content of the original is where some charm was found by fans, but the developers did not wish for anything to generate negative feelings. Their goal is to make something Nier: Automata fans could play comfortably.
As mentioned when the game was revealed, Natsuki Hanae, Yui Ishikawa, and Kaoru Akiyama (all voice actors from Nier: Automata) will have “smaller roles” in NieR Replicant. Yoko Taro and Takahisa asked fans to look forward to Natsuki and Ishikawa’s performances.
Finally, Yoko Taro explained that Takahisa Taura (a developer at PlatinumGames) is “checking” the games action segments to a strict standard. He is also a fan of the original game.
