NieR Replicant Developers Consider the Game More than a Remaster, More Revealed in Famitsu Interview

Some more information about NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139… has surfaced via an interview between the developers and Famitsu.

The news comes via ryokutya2089 (a blog dedicated to sharing exclusive news and interviews from Japanese magazines). Therein, he summarizes an interview between Famitsu, director Yoko Taro, and other developers.

First, the developers feel that with the amount of work put in, the game is more than just a remaster. Even so, the camera movements during cutscenes will remain the same, making it feel like a remaster aside from various modifications.

All additional elements will be completely new, and it is where the developers are focusing their efforts. While the more janky and unrefined content of the original is where some charm was found by fans, but the developers did not wish for anything to generate negative feelings. Their goal is to make something Nier: Automata fans could play comfortably.

As mentioned when the game was revealed, Natsuki Hanae, Yui Ishikawa, and Kaoru Akiyama (all voice actors from Nier: Automata) will have “smaller roles” in NieR ReplicantYoko Taro and Takahisa asked fans to look forward to Natsuki and Ishikawa’s performances.

Finally, Yoko Taro explained that Takahisa Taura (a developer at PlatinumGames) is “checking” the games action segments to a strict standard. He is also a fan of the original game.
