Square Enix has announced a collaboration between NieR: Automata and Final Fantasy XV.
NieR: Automata will get a special one-handed “Engine Blade” weapon for protagonist YoRHa No.2 Type B, which is the emblem of Final Fantasy XV protagonist Noctis. That pixelated shaft YoRHA is wielding in the above image is the very weapon, so get your mind out of the gutter.
The Engine Blade has an exclusive evasion effect, and the weapon model itself is directly imported from Final Fantasy XV, with the damage amount and effects even reflecting its behavior in the other RPG. Finally, there’s a potential storyline behind this weapon appearing in NieR: Automata.
It’s also worth mentioning Final Fantasy XV will get a NieR: Automata collaboration, however details weren’t confirmed at this time.
NieR: Automata will launch for PlayStation 4 on February 23rd, 2017 in Japan – followed by a PS4 and PC release sometime next year, worldwide.
