Dwango has announced that Niconico Douga will reopen next month, more than two months after a cyberattack crippled the video service.
The list of services to be restored on in August 5th include the following:
- Niconico Video (includes posting videos and leaving comments)
- Niconico Livestreaming
- Niconico Encyclopedia
- Nico Nico Seiga (manga platform)
- Niconico Commons
- Niconico 3D
- Niconico Q
- Creator Incentive Program
At the end of August, these functions will also be restored:
- Niconico Channel
- User live broadcasts: Scheduled for early August
- VocaColle (iOS/Android app): Scheduled for mid-August
- Niconico ads and gifting: Scheduled for mid-August
- Niconico News: Scheduled for early August
- Follow new arrivals (new function replacing NicoRepo
- Premium membership and cancellations
- N Preparatory School
Dwango also said that Niconico Douga’s infrastructure has been revamped and the company hired an external security company to maintain and monitor the site.
However, due to the loss of data, Niconico’s community feature will still not be restored for some time, though Dwango promised to make an update in the future.
