Today’s Spotlight is Squad, a tactical multiplayer modern military shooter by Offworld Industries that just left Early Access after over six years of development.
Squad promises to bridge the gap between arcade military shooters and hardcore milsims by offering authentic, squad-driven combined arms battles on large maps that support upwards of 100 players.
Squad‘s primary feature is its in-game VoIP system designed to promote squad cohesion and tactical planning between units. Communication is based on proximity to other players, though squad leaders can use radio equipment to coordinate with other squad leaders and the team’s commander. The game also allows players to construct fortifications on the fly, including sandbags and machine gun nests.
