Niche Spotlight – SHE SAVE: Gorgeous, Pixel-Action Game Featuring a Girl Saving… Something

This is Niche Spotlight. In this column, we regularly introduce new games to our fans, so please leave feedback and let us know if there’s a game you want us to cover!

Indie Japanese developer Ichthyo_stego is working on a promising pixel-art game that seems as ambiguous as its name – She Save. The game is currently in development for PC and Mac via the Unity engine, with a hopeful release on Steam.

The game has a female protagonist with horns that battles various dragons to save… something. Featured above, you can view a short trailer showing off the game’s mix of 2D pixel art blending in naturally to 3D, pixel-inspired areas.

While the dragons can move in 3D space like the old parallax-scrolling pixel games of old, the protagonist is still locked to a 2D movement plane. You’ll be able to attack the dragons with a sword, protect yourself with a shield, and even heal with magic.

Not much else is known about the game, but it’s up for voting on Steam Greenlight. If you’re looking to support a literal indie Japanese developer, make sure to go and vote for the game! You should also make sure to follow Ichthyo_stego on Twitter for new updates on the game.
