Luna Knight is a recent manga series from creator Hiru Morino and follows what at first appears to be the normal life of a high school girl.
Luna is a high school girl who takes care of her missing sister’s flower shop in her absence. However Luna struggles with strange memories, or remnants of memories, and she knows she’s forgotten things but isn’t sure what.
When a group of Yakuza thugs try and shake down Luna to sell the flower shop as part of a land-grabbing scheme, her love for her sister compels her not to sell. You can check out the full chapter from the creator below.

[SPOILERS AHEAD]
Not to be deterred, the group sets fire to Luna’s shop and plans to murder her so she can’t go to the police. But she manages to get her hand on a gun that had been dropped and some of her memories feel like they come back to her.
With practiced reflex and precision, Luna kills all the gang members that were surrounding her. Elsewhere, we learn about the “Round Table”, a major criminal organization that reaches all across Japan.
We also learn about the Knights of the Round Table, a group of assassins and killers allegedly brainwashed as an experiment by former Soviet scientists; it’s heavily alluded to that Luna is also one of these sleeper agents.
In recent months, western manga fans have been emboldened to support Japanese titles directly instead of relying on western publishers and their localizers. Recently the yuri manga LOVE-BULLET was rescued from cancellation thanks to dedicated fans.
Maybe we’re seeing a shift where manga creators and Japanese publishers will begin to reach out to western fans directly.
