Niche Spotlight – Black Paradox

This is Niche Spotlight. In this column, we regularly introduce new games to our fans, so please leave feedback and let us know if there’s a game you want us to cover!

Today’s Spotlight is Black Paradox, a roguelite shmup by Fantastico Studio and Digerati that released from Early Access a few months back.

You play as Black Paradox, a bounty hunter that pilots a heavily armed starship that looks suspiciously like a certain car-shaped time machine from a beloved movie franchise. Your latest contract involves tracking down the seven warlords that lead the Hellraisers, a violent gang of psychopaths terrorizing the galaxy.

Shoot your way across the cosmos with an arsenal of highly destructive weapons, power-ups, and support drones while ’80s-inspired synthwave tracks blare in the background. You can check out a trailer above.

Black Paradox is available on Windows PC, Mac (both via Steam), PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and iOS for $14.99.
