In StarVaders, players pick between different mechs and pilots, all of which have game-changing unique skills and artifacts that will help you get a little further each time. After finishing a run, new encounters and unlocks appear as timeline divergences, slowly increasing the game’s complexity.
The game takes inspiration from other roguelike deckbuilders such as Slay the Spire, but elaborates upon the formula masterfully by adding risk and reward through the overheat system which lets players use extra actions at the cost of burning their cards, as well as the impending doom counter, which forces the player to always keep board control as a priority.
