Summer is finally here, but unlike last year where we kicked off the season with some big name games.
This year is much more subdued in comparison. In fact, most of the biggest releases aren’t technically new games at all.
This might sound disappointing, but for fans of certain franchises, some of these launches have been worth the wait. Here’s our list:
Star Wars: Hunters
Star Wars: Hunters marks Zynga’s foray into the popular franchise with a competitive multiplayer shooter for mobile titles, rather than more powerful machines.
Set between the events of the original and sequel trilogy, players will take each other with a variety of characters such as wookies, stormtroopers, force users, and many others all while being able to do so on the go.
Star Wars: Hunters is set to release on June 4th for Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android.
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance
In true Atlus fashion, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance will be the definitive way to play SMT V after its initial launch back in 2021. On top of the original great game, this new version comes with updates to the battle system, areas, and demons to do battle with.
That’s not the only parts that have been changed with this iteration. Vengeance also introduces a new storyline centered around revenge and filled with tough choices alongside the original story.
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance releases on June 14th for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam).
Still Wakes the Deep
Still Wakes the Deep is a psychologial horror game set on an North Sea oil rig. A vicious storms put you and the crew in danger, but what lurks under the waters might be what spells certain doom for everyone.
Players will explore the rig without any means to defend themselves, leaving them only with their wits if they hope to survive their deadly surroundings.
Still Wakes the Deep is slated to release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store) on June 18th.
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
This is cheating a little bit, as this is a DLC launch rather than a full game. However we would be remiss if we didn’t mention what is likely the biggest release of the month in the form of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.
This highly anticipated DLC brings a massive expansion to the game’s world as players will explore the Land of Shadow where one of the major characters in Marika first set foot in. Of course, Elden Ring’s gameplay needs little introducing to fans of FromSoftware titles.
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree launches for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam) on June 20th.
Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble
AiAi and friends return in the latest entry of the classic franchise with Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble. A brand-new single player adventure awaits players to balance and teeter their way across the dozens of stages.
There will also be more multiplayer modes with this latest installment, including 4 player co-op as well as a 16 player battle royale mode where the last monkey standing wins.
Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble is set to launch on June 25th exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD
Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD brings the 3DS classic, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, to a modern console. The story covers what’s now consider the middle part of the ghostbusting trilogy as titular character Luigi explores numerous mansions through missions assigned to him by Professor E. Gadd.
This remaster updates many parts of the game, such as graphical and gameplay due to the Switch not having a second screen. Nintendo aims for this to be the definitive way to enjoy the game for years to come.
Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD will launch exclusively for Nintendo Switch on June 27th.
Spy × Anya: Operation Memories
Based on the hit anime series, players will be able to play as icon Anya Forger in a more laid-back adventure as we see her everyday life. Tasked with a school assignment to create a photo diary of memories, she’ll explore the world around her while still taking care of her daily tasks with family and friends.
This is a more kid-friendly affair, but it follows in line with the series’ theme of family as players will be able to experience plenty of moments with all of their favorite characters from the anime/manga.
Spy × Anya: Operation Memories releases for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC (via Steam) on June 28th.
