It’s time to usher in 2024 with some brand new games to start the year off right in January. 2023 brought a lot of titles, some good and some so terrible you don’t know why they were sold in the first place as was the case with some titles back in December and November.
But regardless of whether a game is a masterpiece or a pile of trash is irrelevant when it comes to looking forward to new releases. Though hopefully more of the former happens rather than the latter.
War Hospital
War Hospital is a unique take on WWI with a focus on surviving and saving lives rather than fighting and killing.
Players will assume the role of a doctor in a British field hospital on the French Front. During which they’ll use time-accurate medicine to save the lives of those fighting in the war.
War Hospital releases on January 11th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store).
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
After over a decade in dormancy, the Prince of Persia franchise returns with The Lost Crown. The series returns to its roots with a 2.5D style of platforming rather than the 3D environments of the more recent games.
The prince also sees a new look alongside new powers that allow him to traverse platforms swiftly by air dashing, sliding and new time-based ability with Sargon’s Athra’s Glow. Also new for the series is a metroidvania style of exploration in gameplay.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown will release on January 18, 2024 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Ubisoft and Epic Games Store).
Another Code: Recollection
A remake of the DS game Trace Memory alongside its sequel which appeared on the Wii, Another Code: Recollection brings a classic to the modern era.
Following a young girl named Ashley who receives a letter from her father thought dead. She finds herself exploring an island and experiences the adventure of a lifetime as she learns about the truth of her past.
Another Code: Recollection is set to release on January 19th exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is the eighth installment in the famous Yakuza series that brings together icons Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu together in an RPG adventure with unique classes representing the modern world.
Their newest story takes them beyond the realm of Japan, as their journey will also take them to Hawaii as they take on a potentially sinister plot.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth launches on January 26th for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam).
Tekken 8
Last year saw big name fighting game release and Tekken 8 hopes to bring a strong start for 2024.
The game continues to long running franchise’s story and brings it to the next generation with the help of Unreal Engine 5. Along with it comes a new battle system known as Heat, which will update the gameplay while maintaining the classic feel of the series.
Tekken 8 launches on January 25th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam).
