Niche Gamer Plays—Blackguards 2

Niche Gamer Plays is an ongoing video preview series where our staff take an in-depth and yet concise look at classic and upcoming games across all current gaming platforms.

With Daedalic Entertainment’s Blackguards 2 launching today, we’ve readied a new episode of Niche Gamer Plays, our video series where we preview video games.

You can watch the new gameplay walkthrough above, in which our own Carl Batchelor gets in-depth with the game. If you’re thinking of buying Blackguards 2, you may want to hold off until our review goes live; otherwise, you can find it here on Steam.

We’ve previously reviewed the original Blackguards; you can find our estimation here.

If you have any suggestions for a future Niche Gamer Plays video, please shoot us an email to Niche Gamer Plays @ Niche Gamer (click to open a new message with your preferred email provider), as we’re always looking to cover more gaming content!

Im happy they seem to be focusing on combat, that was the only good part of the first game, cutscenes, flashbacks, crappy sidequests and stupid story events that stripped you out of your abilities or equipment “oh yeah we gagged one of your characters and he/she cant use magic anymore, why ? f you, thats why, what do you mean you spend all their points on spells and magic talents and now the already hard battles got 5 times harder ? well sucks to be you” got extremely frustrating and put me off the game, it was like the game wanted you to hate itnnim also happy they are dialing back the random factor, imho randomness only detracts from strategy, i didnt like it in xcom and i didnt like it in blackguards, taking a chance by using all your mana to cast a big spell to obliterate an enemy knowing that you wont be able to heal anymore AND HAVING THAT FIZZLE was not fun, not fun at all, i was already paying a high price, whats the need to add a dice roll to that ?nnone problem i see they havent fixed is the repetitive music, its nice and all … for the first hour … maybe, i guess ill have to provide my own
