This is Niche Early Access. In this column, we regularly showcase various promising games that are currently in some form of early access or development, and haven’t reached full release. Please let us know if there’s a game you want us to showcase!

I’m back with another batch of Early Access release highlights. As always, even if you don’t like buying titles that are still in Early Access, remember to wishlist any games that catch your attention so you’ll be notified when they get a full release.

Here are five Early Access games that might be worth checking out:

Ultimate Admiral: Age of Sail
Developer: Game-Labs
Platform: Windows PC
Price: $39.99

First up this week is Ultimate Admiral: Age of Sail, a historical naval combat wargame by the developers of the Ultimate General series.

The game features detailed and realistic ship and damage models based on authentic vessels and weapons from the Napoleonic and American Revolution eras. Fight large scale naval battles and landing operations, based on loads of real and speculative battles in the latter half of the 18th Century.

Ultimate Admiral: Age of Sail will be in Early Access for roughly nine months.

Soul Reaper
Developer: Power Level Studios
Platform: Windows PC
Price: $19.99

Soul Reaper is a tongue-in-cheek RPG with monster taming elements. You play as the Soul Reaper on his quest to rebuild his armies, and become whole again. Defeat enemies and use their souls to boost your experience, upgrade your monsters, forge legendary equipment, or enhance your existing gear.

Soul Reaper is expected to stay in Early Access for at least three months.

Adore
Developer: Cadabra Games
Platform: Windows PC
Price: $9.99 (Price will increase)

Adore is a creature taming action-roguelite. The god of all creatures is dying, and his last hope rests with Lukha, a young apprentice with the ability to bond with and summon monsters. Summon creatures and build combos based on their different synergies, but be careful with how you use them. Lukha’s bond with his creatures means that their deaths inflict damage to him as well.

Adore will remain in Early Access for around a year.

Beyond Extinct
Developer: Crania Games
Platform: Windows PC
Price: $16.99 (Price will increase)

Beyond Extinct is a roguelite FPS about fighting your way out of a procedurally generated underground facility, that has been overrun by otherworldly monsters. Find and upgrade powerful weapons, utility gear, and perks, as one of five playable characters. Unlock new characters and items as you complete runs, and get closer to the planet’s surface.

Beyond Extinct will get a full release in Q1 2021.

Vaporwave
Developer: Felipe Rodrigues
Platform: Windows PC
Price: $13.99 (Price will increase)

Finally, we come to Vaporwave, a roguelite FPS set in a procedurally generated vaporwave maze crawling with killer robots. The game’s combat is based around your trusty pistol and punch gun, both of which are designed to exploit the game’s physics system. Find perks and manage secondary items to ensure your survival.

Vaporwave is set to get a full release in 6-12 months.
