Microsoft has confirmed the release window for the next-generation Xbox console.
Some of the new specifications were also outlined:
- A custom designed processor via AMD, with Zen2 and Navi technology. This is claimed to be four times more powerful than the Xbox One X.
- High bandwidth GDDR6 for “the best performance.” This includes claims of being able to support 120fps and 8k capability.
- A variable refresh rate and next-gen ray tracing done in real time. The latter is supported by hardware acceleration.
- A “new generation” of SSD (Solid State Drive) that acts as “virtual RAM.” This is claimed to give a fourty times performance increase over the current generation of consoles.
The new console is still dubbed Project Scarlett, and is now set for a holiday 2020 release window.
