In a recent Electronic Arts earnings call, the publisher hyped up another little piece of information for fans waiting for the next Battlefield game’s release.
With season seven of Battlefield 2042 coming to a close, many players turn their heads to the future, looking for news about their beloved franchise, and EA’s latest financial report had EA CEO Andrew Wilson saying the next Battlefield game will be their most ambitious.
“Players continue to be passionate about the Battlefield franchise, which has surpassed over 25 million players over the last twelve months,” Wilson said. “The community is energized by what our teams are doing and excited for what comes next.
He added,” This is not just one of our top priorities, it is also one of the most ambitious projects in our history. We have brought together the very best team coupled with the resources and technology they need to deliver an epic Battlefield experience.”
For anyone that was paying attention before Battlefield 2042 released, all this will seem familiar, because that’s almost the exact same marketing speech that players were sold back then.
With how disastrous launch of 2042 was, many players are left with sour taste even after 3 years have passed, and are pledging to not preorder the new title, no matter how good the new marketing campaign will be.
Looking back to how many times Battlefield fans were taken advantage of since Battlefield 3, let’s pray that maybe this time, thanks to multiple studios working on the new game, EA will deliver and provide a coherent, mostly bug free experience, free of any anti-consumer practices.
The next Battlefield game is rumored to launch in 2025 and could include a brand-new free-2-play battle royale mode, and be “focused on story with a great emphasis on modern technology.”
