A new update for Senran Kagura: Estival Versus has added a bunch of goodies to the game, most notably a ride-able ninja mecha, and the ability to play as Asuka’s grandmom, Sayuri.

The new update, version 1.04, is now available on both versions of Estival Versus. Featured above, the Kairai Walker was added into the game. This is clearly a giant wood-based mecha that is controllable during battle, although further details weren’t confirmed regarding its capabilities. Update 1.04 also comes with new clothing items for the changing room, new balance changes, and new festival events.

Sayuri, in her original form, is described as an extremely powerful yet slow-moving character. She also lacks a Shinobi Tenshin form, as well as destructible clothing. This is entirely different in comparison to her Shinobi Tenshin form, Jasmine, (who you can see in the left of the image with the mecha) which is a completely separate player (who has clothing destruction). It’s worth mentioning these are entirely different character slots in the game’s roster, hence the emphasis on their differences.

While this update was made available earlier today, it has since been taken down as it brought a few bugs into the game. Coming from this, series producer Kenichiro Takaki posted on his personal Twitter that fans who downloaded the update should avoid saving the game, and instead go back to version 1.03, which is being redistributed over the PSN for now.
